Laser Welding

Synlas provides product development and manufacturing solutions to its customers, OEMs and other contractors in the medical device industry. We develop technology and applications that have a barrier to entry because of complexity or cost. We use these technologies to support our customers throughout their design, development and production cycle.

Laser welding is the most precise fusion (joining) technology with minimum distortion and heat effected zone. Whatever the application - the production of endoscopes, medical instruments or implants - lasers work with speed, precision and repeatability. The result is extremely high quality. Some products could not be made without lasers, such as pacemakers. The laser welds the titanium housing air tight, with no porosity and no refinishing requirements.

 Features:

  • Fast, repeatable laser processes for consistent quality
  • Minimal heat-affected zone around weld site
  • Contact-free processing helps prevents stress on materials
  • Dissimilar metals can be welded together
  • Laser beam can be positioned into tight geometry

 Applications:

  • Guidewires
  • Laser welded torque cables
  • Laser wire ball forming
  • Laser welded catheter tips
  • Nitinol welding
  • Laser welded tube assemblies
  • Lap and butt welding
  • Laser welded nitinol assembly
  • Helically laser welded coils
  • Hermetic weld joints
  • Laser welded filter assemblies
